Castle Xyntillan - Session 2 - Expedition #3

Disclaimer: after writing up session 2, I was kindly informed that Gabor Lux is a transphobe and bigot. For this reason, I won't be writing more reports to avoid promoting his work, and won't be paying for his stuff (it's all on the Google, actually!).

This time, A joined P and together they had a company six men strong. The plan was simple: climb the east balcony, break into the Count's chamber and... kill him? Honestly I'm not sure what they expected, but I'd say it went better than it could have.

Expedition #3
Jeanne (E1), Mathieu (M1), Thérèse (F1), Gaëlle (F1), Alva (M1), Abbie (F1)

Boasting about making it out of the dungeon twice, Jeanne gathered more collaborators than the last time, and together they all made way through the valley, across the lake and to the east balcony where they climbed up to the Count's room. He wasn't there though, so they rifled through his stuff and stole his rapier +2, crystal flasks of fine brandy, bejewelled goblets, and ruined the portraits of Claudette the Innocent and the Countess Maltricia --- only after chatting up with the friendly but sleepy portrait of Lydia Malévol the Luckless, who gave them contradictory information about where to find Ratsputin.

They decided to push their luck and explore his quarters further, finding a bag of spices and a tobacco box in a small pantry connecting to his Study. There, they argued in front of the door a while and I made a check for the Vampire Count's sharp senses - he heard them, and the study's door flung open at his command while the reserve door behind them closed shut. To the tune of a harpsichord playing by itself in the study, they witnessed the Count turn to mist and six dire wolves emerged out of the mist, first only bones then siney and muscle, blood and flesh, fur and teeth and vicious growls. Thankfully, one party member (I forgot whomst) had placed a bear trap in front of the door before hand, so one of the wolves was stuck. Another was quickly turned into a sheep by one of the mages, although it failed as a distraction for the remaining wolves. A short retreating fight ensued while Jeanne dealt with the door behind them and eventually covered their retreat further into the Count's Chamber. When another wolf was turned into a sheep, the three wolves still standing turned on it to feast and the Count turned solid again, pestered --- "Must I do everything myself? No matter, let us dance my darlings!" --- again he closed the door to slow down their retreat (they forgot to spike them open), and they decided to try and fight back: a flask of oil was thrown but doused the wrong target, a flask of holy water was successfully thrown on the count, Alva was hypnotized and turned against her friends, killing Gaëlle and Alva; Jeanne got killed by the last wolf still in the fight, Mathieu saved Thérèse' life, taking a hit from the Count in her stead and fell too. Thérèse managed to escape without treasure, save for the +2 rapier.
The Count's voice echoed in her mind as she nearly fell off the balcony rappelling down and running off, bidding her adieu for now and that he expects to see her again very soon.

By next week, the balcony's doors will be secured as this heist was marginally successful.

Current Infraction Points: 1
